Choose food by its production cost
Three wheat in a row yields one bread: no furnace is needed, but the harvest is also used to raise cows. Potatoes need to be cooked after harvesting, but the vegetable itself is suitable for planting. Don't eat the last potato or carrot. Reference: Minecraft: bread.
Bread and baked potatoes restore 5 hunger units, cooked beef - 8. Satisfaction also varies: during a long run, meat usually keeps you full longer. Diet diversity does not provide a hidden health benefit.
Crops and furnace fuel
One source of water hydrates farmland for 4 blocks in each direction: a square 9×9 with water in the center holds 80 plants. Create a path outside, avoid jumping over crops, and light the area for night growth.
Start with 16 potatoes or 24 wheat, rather than necessarily filling the entire area. In the furnace, one coal processes 8 items: a batch of 16 potatoes requires 2 coal. The smokehouse cooks food faster, but does not increase the number of items per unit of fuel.
Planting layout and harvest maturity are discussed in detail here: Your first wheat farm: water, farmland and harvesting.
Separate three reserves
In your home chest, create “planting”, “ready food” and “after death” cells. For a short outing, our starting point is 16 ready-made portions, separately by the bed 8; This is a supply plan, not a rule of the game.
After the harvest, first replant the crop bed, then prepare the excess. The reserve for cows is a minimum of 2 wheat per pair cycle. If there is not enough food, calculate the cost of the usual route: a large raw harvest does not help when there is nothing to put in the hotbar before leaving.
To breed and preserve breeders, use the following plan: A small animal farm: pens, food and a breeding pair.
