Wood → crafting table → stone
Cut down about 8 logs. Turn some into planks, but leave at least one log for charcoal if you can't find charcoal. Make a crafting table from 4 boards; from two boards placed vertically - 4 sticks. The wooden pickaxe requires a 3 plank on top and a 2 stick in the center.
Use a pickaxe to mine 16 cobblestone: 3 for a stone pickaxe, 3 for an axe, 2 for a sword and 8 for a furnace. This is a specific basic set; if time is running out, make the pickaxe and furnace first and set aside the rest. Don't go into a deep cave for the first iron.
The recipe book will help you check the shape and quantity of the result. crafting table and recipes.
Food and light until sunset
Gather available food and cook raw meat in the furnace. Don't waste your day on a long run without reserve: the consumption of hunger and unfamiliar terrain make it difficult to return. Place the furnace near the future shelter so you don’t have to look for it at night.
If there is no coal, put the log in the top cell of the furnace, and the boards in the fuel cell. The resulting charcoal together with the stick gives 4 torch. This allows you to illuminate the shelter without a night trip to the coal vein.
The shelter is smaller than the future home
It is easier to hollow out a room in a slope with a floor of 3×3 and a block height of 2 than to build a large building. Don't dig straight down. Cover the entrance with solid blocks or a door, place a torch and leave room for a crafting table and furnace. Don't leave an open passage just for the sake of visibility: mobs can get through it.
The bed requires 3 wool of the same color and 3 boards. If you don't find any wool, don't run after the sheep in the dark: wait inside and get busy with your tools. Do not expand the room into an unknown cave while creatures can be heard behind the wall.
Check your personal point before taking your bed camping. Bed and rebirth.
Don't run out blindly in the morning
First, inspect the exit. Not all threats disappear in the sun: the creeper under the door remains dangerous. Restore your health, prepare food, write down the coordinates of the shelter, and only then go for iron.
If you find yourself on the road at night, choose the nearest safe, closed place instead of trying to run home at any cost. A small temporary camp can be found later using the coordinates; a senseless night chase often ends with the loss of things.
